H_man Connection. U can fill in the blank! π #noreally #youcan
November was hopping with learning and connection opportunities including a budding appreciation for founder Pete Bombaci @petebombaci and his human connection movement called @genwellproject ! π
I spent time in #Vancouver for the 2nd Annual Human Connection Conference and participated in a snowy morning of talking to strangers when I was back in #Calgary as part of Genwell's launch of "Talk To A Stranger Week" - held at Good Earth Coffeehouse's @goodearthhq across Canada. π
The momentum is growing around Genwell's message that we can ALL play a part in addressing the issues of social isolation, disconnection, and loneliness through the power of human connection. π₯°
In September - on Season 4 of The Connector Next Door Podcast for Planners @theconnectionarchitect - I had the great opportunity to record a conversation with Pete for you all.
Listen in at the link below to hear what connection REALLY means to him, why he is so passionate about motivating others to join the movement, and what we can ALL do to build a more connected #Canada.

In the invitation to join in on #calgarytalks today at @calgarylibrary #calgarycentrallibrary , Calgary's Mayor @jyotigondek said,
“There are so many incredible opportunities for Calgarians to experience arts, culture, and sport in our city.
But what happens when an affordability crunch forces households to make tough decisions about spending priorities that limits their ability to access to those experiences?
Do our social connections and sense of belonging suffer?
How does our community continue to create, play and be entertained when the very people doing this work are also struggling?”
Even though the questions can seem daunting, the discussion was thought provoking ... and hopeful.
Much is happening to help ALL Calgarians access barrier-free experiences in the arts, sports, and culture but there is more work to do!
Loved the opportunity to listen to and learn from panel which was moderated by Leslie Horton of Global News Morning and Global News at Noon. @leslie_horton_ @globalnews @globalcalgary
Alex Sarian, President and CEO of Arts Commons encouraged us to ask, "Who’s not coming and why?" saying, "Connection doesn’t happen by chance". @alexsarian @yycarts
Nicky Nash, Executive Director of Kids Up Front highlighted, "A ticket is a tool toward participation" asking, "How many sparks are we missing because we’re not including everyone?" and "We can achieve great things outside of our silos.” @kidsupfrontcalg
Jay McNeil, President of the Calgary Stampeders shared how they are, "Meeting the community where they are at and asking how can they be part of the community” - without making assumptions! @jaymcneil50 @calstampeders
As a Connection Strategy Coach, serving in-house and do-it-yourself event planners, it's important for me to understand my local landscape and then explore how I can make a global difference in crafting experiences that are more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible so everyone - in every corner of our communities - can feel like they belong.
I'm looking forward to more conversations and continuing the practical work of crafting experiences where everyone can feel a sense of belonging.

Jan Keck is a recovering shy guy, people-loving introvert, and a deep connector.
He is also is a Facilitation Skills Trainer, Workshop Facilitator, Experience Designer, TEDx Speaker.
His mission is to teach empathetic leaders how to design group experiences that spark engagement, increase trust, and foster deep connections - so nobody feels left out. π₯°
Jan believes that gatherings without intentional structure inadvertently perpetuate patterns of oppression, and it’s the responsibility of the leaders to ensure everyone feels seen and heard - especially the introverted, quiet, and shy folks.
Did you know you can warm up your meetings without cheesy icebreakers, build trust without trust falls, and facilitate vulnerable conversations without participants feeling they’re in therapy? π€
There’s nothing that breaks Jan’s heart more than witnessing individuals trapped in awkward icebreakers, feeling more isolated despite being in a group.
This is why he is currently dedicating his time and energy into writing his first book “Ice Melters”, where he advocates to ditch traditional Ice Breakers and shares his framework to increase engagement, build trust and foster deep connections - without making people cringe.
Jan is driven by a simple belief: real, deep connection beats small talk, every single time. π

Posted @withregram • @podsummit This week marks the culmination of nearly a year and a half of dedicated effort, all sparked by a single email and a conversation about a vision: to build a thriving podcast community in Calgary and beyond.
At the heart of this endeavor is the concept of Community. Over nearly a decade of podcasting, my passion for discussing pop culture and sharing it with others has always been about more than just a conversation; it’s been about fostering a community, friendships, and a sense of belonging. Through podcasting, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with people around the globe and sharing remarkable experiences with them.
PodSummit is built on the foundation of those experiences, infusing our event with the passion and commitment that has driven me since first turning on a microphone in 2015.
Across Canada, there is a remarkable network of storytellers using podcasting to amplify their voices and share their narratives. Yet, many of us lack the solid foundation of a connected community to support and enhance our efforts - that needs to change.
PodSummit YYC 2024 is not just an event, but the beginning of a collective journey into a new era for Canadian podcasters. We might not have all the answers yet, but we are committed creating a forum to ask the right questions, have the discussions, and building a community that will guide us toward those answers.
If you’re seeking something more from your podcasting journey, PodSummit YYC 2024 is where you’ll find it.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey.
See you on Friday.

Many years ago, on the prompting of a colleague, I learned about my Top 5 Strengths*.
After a quick 15 minute quiz, it turned out, topping the list of my "Top 5" was “Connectedness”.
β¨
Remarkably, that quick quiz started me on a journey to learn more about how I had been "showing up" since I was a kid - consistently and creatively connecting people, projects, and ideas. I was a "Natural Connector".
Bosses in the past wondered why I was so bent on bringing people together to gain a greater understanding of each other or core project elements.
Some even thought exploring project "connecting points" was more of a waste of time than it was a way to take our team to the next level. Why couldn't I just "do the work" I was told to do?
Since that revelation, I have taken the time to learn more about what it would mean to intentionally bring “connectedness” into my life and work. It took me on a journey to finding true alignment with myself and helped me embrace my life's work.
I now live out “connectedness” in my every day interactions and have intensified my work to support everyday event planners and their teams to plan events with a strong "Connections First" foundation.
As I was building out The Connection Architect Program in 2021, I started making notes on how we ALL could start to recognize “connectedness” in our lives.
This Fall I'll be sharing what I call “The Connection Architect's Way” – 20 Signs that YOU have what it takes to be a "Connection Architect".
Please hear me. Becoming a "Connection Architect" isn't exclusive to a gifted few. You don't need to carry the natural strength of "Connectedness" to #buildconnectionpoints with your clients, customers, core team, or community through the events you're planning.
I believe ANYONE can build meaningful connections, anywhere, anytime, from the ground up with events ... including YOU!
If you want to learn how you can become a Connection Architect by Mastering the Four Levels of Event Planning & Promotion DM me or check out the course and community at www.TheConnectionArchitect.ca/Connect

Celebrate the beginning of SUMMER (and Maya's Birthday today!) with the last conversation of Season 3 of "The Connector Next Door Podcast for Planners" with compelling, creative, connection-focused couple Maya Corona and David β‘ Schmeikal! @mayacoronaart @davidschmeikal @thebearandunicorn
You can find the link in my bio or listen in here ... https://www.buzzsprout.com/1812614/15291674
"Maya and David are a dynamic husband-and-wife duo, blending backgrounds in graphic design, painting, branding, and coaching to help humans create and be creative.
Maya, with over two decades in graphic design, now explores the depths of her self-expression and joy through painting and creative initiatives focused on connecting communities together.
David has worked as an entrepreneur and creative professional for 15 years and now guides others to unleash “who they truly are” into the world. He does this through improving the pragmatic performance side of process so professionals can unleash their creative potential.
To many event planners creativity can feel messy. And adding that element of creativity into our planning work can feel even more out of place. But if we want to see change in ourselves, our world, or our work, we cannot avoid the mess.
In my conversation with Maya and David, we explored how we must build up our tolerance for the creative process even as planners. When we learn to sit with the uncomfortable inability to structure, schedule, or add the creativity to a spreadsheet, we will gain access to the peace and possibilities only accessible by going through the – as David says – “chaos of creativity’’.
Listen in and be inspired to lean into who you truly are, what matters to you in your planning, and get ready to surround yourself with those that do the same!"

It took me a couple of decades to connect-the-dots, but when I understood I could plan and promote events as the artisan I was born to be, my planning game changed!
It took a bit of bravery when I started applying a more creative, artistic, “Connection First” approach with my event planning clients and their teams.
They in turn started to craft more creative and long-lasting connections with their customers, clients, and communities through the events they would plan.
“Connection First” was at the heart of every level of the planning process.
Now, after 15 years as a Connection Strategy Coach, it’s still my dream to guide everyday event planners to
πΏ embrace their brilliance,
πΏ activate their experience,
πΏ and cultivate meaningful connections.
We may feel challenged in our ability to connect well, but we now have access a whole world of possibilities.
I believe ANYONE can become a creative connecting force
- and that includes YOU!
I can’t wait to see you awaken your inner artisan and start to build more meaningful connections through the events and promotions you choose to create.
Welcome to The Connection Architect Course & Community!

Posted @withrepost • @lisagareau_connectioncoach Yesterday, as I was reflecting on the year that was, scrolling through the past 12 months of photos, projects, and messages.
I kept scrolling back to the first year of the COVID shutdowns - a time of incredible loss for me personally and professionally - and bumped into this post from September 2020.
I soaked it in. π
I thought the message - even though I’m now sharing it in a time of abundance - is just as relevant today as we look toward a new year.
What I know to be true, even loss can be an invitation to connect.
I invite you to open your hand to a friend, colleague, client, or community member - and find the flow in 2023.

“How are you creating “flow” in your work and life?
Sometimes in times of crisis and loss, we may hold tighter to what we have - scared of losing even more.
What if - to keep a positive exchange going - we created an intentional flow of skills, support, and even funds?
What if we opened our hands and offered something of value to our customers, contacts, or wider community?
What if in the act of giving you would also receive?
Who in your world needs to hear from you, to be seen by you, to feel appreciated today?
Finish this week well by getting in the “flow”! π«”
In Season 1 of the Connector Next Door Podcast for Planners, I had the joy of capturing conversations with community-focused connectors - every day event planners - from around the world.

More meaningful connections start with “Mastering the Four Levels of Event Planning & Promotion” in Candy’s new “Connection First” Course & Community for Impact-Driven Event Planners - @theconnectionarchitect
Today we started with our very first Cohort of Connectors!
Here’s what they'll be learning in our 30-Day Build of The Connection Architect Certificate Program!
Level One - Event Strategy
Event Purpose, Research, & Connection Strategy
Understanding their event purpose and setting your scope will create a strong foundation for their event planning. In this session they will learn to assess their event activities and assets and get grounded by applying successful strategic principles to your event cycle.
Level Two – Event Planning
Event Expectations, Alignment, & Integration
Attendees enter event doors with expectations of a seamless, satisfying, and sometimes surprising experience. In this session they will learn to frame their event by perfectly placing all their planning elements together in a way that is sure to “wow” your guests and win respect.
Level Three – Event Stakeholders
Event Participants, Partners, & Public Advocates
Attracting an invested group of event team members, partners, sponsors, vendors, and, of course, attendees, can take work but it’s worth it. In this session they will learn to effectively communicate your purpose to your ideal event community and fill the room with engaged “friends”.
Level Four – Event Marketing
Creative Design, Marketing, & Communications
Showcasing events through well-chosen words, purposeful visuals, and thoughtful design elements will help it stand out from the crowd. In this session Connectors will learn to produce consistent and creative collateral and give their event a “curb appeal” you can be proud of.

It took me a couple of decades to connect-the-dots, but when I understood I could plan and promote events as the artisan I was born to be, my planning game changed!
As a coach, I started applying a more creative, artistic, "connection-first" approach with my clients.
They in turn started to craft more creative and long-lasting connections with their customers, clients, and communities through the events they would plan.
"Connection First" was now at the heart of every level of the planning process.
Now, after 13 years since founding @candyeventconsulting as a Connection Strategy Coach, it's still my dream to guide everyday event planners to embrace their brilliance, activate their experience, and cultivate meaningful connections.
Even though the global pandemic has challenged our ability to connect well, it has also opened up a new world of possibilities.
I believe ANYONE can become a creative connecting force - and that includes YOU!
I can't wait to see you awaken your inner artisan and start to build more meaningful connections through the events and promotions you choose to create.
Registration for our February Cohort of Connectors is still open!

Sign #3 that you have what it takes to be a Connection Architect:
“Master connectors HELP each team member see how their individual contribution fits into a bigger picture.”

It took me a few years to learn how to intentionally live out “connectedness” in my every day interactions.
Over the last couple of years I have intensified my work to support event planners and their teams to plan events with the "connection first" approach.
As I was building The Connection Architect Course & Community, I started making notes on how we ALL could start to recognize “connectedness” in our lives.
I'm excited to share with you what I call “The Connection Architect's Way” – 20 Signs that YOU have what it takes to be a Connection Architect.
Please hear me. Becoming a "Connection Architect" isn't exclusive to a gifted few. You don't need to carry the natural strength of "Connectedness" to be a Connection Architect.
I believe ANYONE can build meaningful connections, anywhere, anytime, from the ground up with events ... including YOU!
Watch the posts and chime in! I'd love to hear how you are seeing "connectedness" showing up in your work and life.

Bosses in the past wondered why I was so bent on bringing people together to gain a greater understanding of a project.
It took me on the journey to finding true alignment with myself and helped me embrace my life's work.
I now live out “connectedness” in my every day interactions and have intensified my work to support event planners and their teams to plan events with the "connection first" approach.
As I was building The Connection Architect Course & Community, I started making notes on how we ALL could start to recognize “connectedness” in our lives.
Over the month of January, I will be sharing what I call “The Connection Architect's Way” – 20 Signs that YOU have what it takes to be a Connection Architect.
Please hear me. Becoming a "Connection Architect" isn't exclusive to a gifted few. You don't need to carry the natural strength of "Connectedness" to be a Connection Architect.
